Texas ECE hosted the Spring Awards Banquet on Monday, May 6, 2019 to honor the achievements of students and recognize the contributions of faculty during the 2018-2019 academic year. Texas ECE alumnus Eric Feng gave the keynote address. Mr. Feng is an American software engineer, business executive, and financier. He is a general partner at the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, where he focuses on leading early stage consumer investments.Previously he was CTO of Kleiner Perkins portfolio company Flipboard, as well as the founding CTO of Hulu. He earned his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Texas ECE in 1999, and received the IEC Everitt Award as the top graduating engineering student.
The department recognized the student team winners of the Capstone Design Showcase where students demonstrate projects completed in a yearlong capstone design course sequence, solving open-ended problems in groups of 5-7 students.
The derpatment also awarded students for academic achievement and leadership, the Margarida Jacome Outstanding Dissertation Prize, excellence as Teaching Assistants, and the Dr. Beer Endowment for Student Excellence in written and spoken communication. The Texas ECE Undergraduate Advisory Board recognized outstanding faculty selected by the students "for a consistent display of care and excellence in and out of the classroom."
