Leonard F. Register (Frank) is a Professor and holds the J. H. Herring Centennial Professorship in Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Register obtained B.S. degrees in electrical and computer engineering and in physics, and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University. He then joined the Computational Electronics Group at the University of Illinois' Beckman Institute where he became a research scientist. There he preformed theoretical research and published in diverse areas including quantum transport, high-energy transport, single electronics, laser theory and device reliability.
He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Microelectronics Research Center in the spring of 2000. He now teaches semiconductor device and physics courses and continues to perform research with an added emphasis on quantum transport effects within sub-50 nm and non-classical CMOS. Research Interests: Non-classical CMOS (non traditional materials and structures, Quantum transport (along and normal to the channel), High-energy transport and Compact modeling.
