The Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas Austin has multiple faculty openings with a start date of Fall 2027 for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions. Candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered for tenure-track positions only, unless explicitly stated otherwise, especially as they align with the strategic focus of the department in: (i) Core/foundational AI; (ii) computer systems (tenured faculty candidates will also be considered for this area); and (iii) robotics and physical AI.
We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to supporting our student body through their teaching, research, and service. Applicants should have received or expect to receive a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline prior to August 2027. Successful candidates are expected to mentor graduate students, teach our undergraduate and graduate students, develop an externally sponsored research program, collaborate with other faculty in a wide range of fields, and be involved in service to the university and profession.

Submission of applications by October 15, 2026, is strongly encouraged. Applications received after November 15, 2026 may not be given equal priority.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, statement of research, statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement describing their mentoring philosophy in both research and teaching. At least three references (five for tenured positions) who will submit original letters of reference should be included.
