David Jarmon is an entrepreneur and technology executive whose career spans multiple startups in custom chip design and technology licensing. After earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, David began his career at a chip design automation startup founded by a UT ECE instructor, setting the stage for decades of work at a half-dozen startups operating at the intersection of engineering problem solving and customer-driven innovation. As a young software engineer, his drive to get out of the cubicle and connect with people helped build multiple chip design automation startups that were later acquired by Cadence Design Systems, where he served in engineering, sales, and executive roles.
David collaborated closely with customers to help build what became pioneering embedded GPU provider Vivante Corporation, earning trust that enabled the company to become a leading supplier of GPUs for embedded systems. Vivante was later acquired by Verisilicon, where David drove global revenue growth that supported a successful IPO. As Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Visionary.ai, a startup delivering AI-powered image processing, David continues his passion for bringing together extraordinary entrepreneurs with visionary customers to enable a new generation of cameras that see better with AI.
David is passionate about advancing engineering education and innovation. A member of the Cockrell School of Engineering Advisory Board since 2022, he was also an early supporter of UT in Silicon Valley. Together with his wife, he established the David and Kasumi Jarmon Innovation Endowment for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to give back and support innovation within the department. The curiosity and global mindset fostered as a UT student have shaped every chapter of his journey, from early-stage startups to overseas assignments, including a mid-career Japan-focused MBA at the University of Hawaii, all grounded in a passion for creatively connecting people, cultures, and ideas.
