Stephen T. Kush is a founder and CEO of Catalysis Inc., a global consulting firm specializing in applying health care date to clinical research.. Steve has BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and over 40 years of engineering, manufacturing and management experience in the US, Japan, and Europe. The list of organizations that he has worked for includes Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Texas Instruments, Sperry Flight Systems and Schlumberger. Much of this work utilized his background in electro-optics that he acquired while at UT and the University of Arizona Optical Sciences department.
His work included the first fiber optics communication link in a commercial military airplane and the first fiber optic telemetry system for use in well logging. He also introduced concurrent engineering techniques and lean production practices into the Schlumberger development process to dramatically reduce development times and system costs of well site equipment.
For over twenty-five years, Steve has volunteered for the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC). CDISC is a 501(c)(3) standards development organization that develops computable, clinical research data standards to facilitate the worldwide development of cures for over fifty disorders and diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetes, traumatic brain injury, cardiovascular disease and multiple forms of cancer.
Steve has set up two endowed scholarships at the University of Texas at Austin that currently support eight ECE undergraduate students. He also supports Presidential Scholars and graduate students at the University of New Mexico and serves on the board of AIRE, a non-profit based in Taos, New Mexico that focuses on addressing food insecurity.
