UT ECE Ph.D. student Bilal Sadiq and Professor Gustavo de Veciana are recipients of the best paper award at 22nd International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) held in Amsterdam this year. Their work entitled Balancing SRPT Prioritization versus Opportunistic Gain in Wireless Systems with Flow Dynamics addresses a fundamental question regarding the best possible achievable performance for file transfer or web browsing traffic on wireless systems. This research was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Dr. de Veciana, said, this conference is one of the oldest in the field, founded in 1955. It predates the Internet and wireless networks that have become focus of most research and industry activity in this field today. We are indeed very pleased to have our research recognized by the community. He will be co-charing the Technical Program Committee for ITC 2011 in San Francisco.
Drs. Sadiq and de Veciana are both with the Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG) at UT Austin. Dr. Sadiq received his Ph.D. May 2010, and has recently joined one of WNCG's affiliate companies Qualcomm's New Jersey Research Center.
