Yifan Jiang, a PhD student in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, has been named a recipient of a 2023 Apple Scholars in AI/ML PhD fellowship. The Apple Scholars in AI/ML PhD fellowship recognizes the contributions of researchers in computer science and engineering at the graduate and postgraduate level. Apple Scholars in AI/ML are selected based on their innovative research, record as thought leaders and collaborators, and commitment to advancing their respective fields.
Yifan was one of 22 students selected for the fellowship in 2023. Each Apple Scholar in AI/ML receives funding as they pursue their PhD, internship opportunities, and mentorship with an Apple researcher in their field.
Yifan Jiang is a fourth-year PhD student supervised by Prof. Zhangyang (Atlas) Wang. His research interests lie in the areas of the generative model, neural rendering, and computational photography. In particular, he aims at building machine intelligence that bridges the generative model and neural rendering techniques to enable powerful applications in both 2D and 3D scenarios, including image editing/processing, novel-view synthesis, and 3D creation.
