Project Costs and Timeline

The project partnership contributions are outlined in the chart below and includes all basic course expenses and a budget for student teams to purchase equipment. Extraordinary expenses or equipment should be noted in advance and provided by the company.

Senior Design Projects
The project proposal is generated by the company, which allows for more flexibility and input from industry.
$10,000*
$2,000 additional project contribution
Honors Design Projects
Honors Design projects offer companies the opportunity to work with a team primarily comprised of ECE honors students. Projects are generated by faculty & company sponsors may offer input on the problem statement.
$15,000*
$5,000 additional project contribution

*$5,000 project fee for small companies with less than 1,000 employees and non-profits.

Project Timeline

A project timeline is provided as a general estimated guide to the flow of projects and when to expect certain milestones throughout the life cycle of the two-semester project. {Due dates and exact schedule appear in students course notes.}

SEP, weeks 4-5 Students introduce themselves to company sponsor
OCT, weeks 1-2 Signed IP Agreements/NDAs provided to company sponsor (if applicable)
OCT, week 2 Project proposals reviewd by company sponsor
OCT, week 4 Project payment due
NOV, weeks 2-3 Oral Design Review with faculty advisor
DEC, week 2 System Design Report sent to company sponsor
Winter Break
JAN, weeks 4-5 Final scope of project reviewed by company sponsor, student purchasing begins
MAR, weeks 1-2 Demo; Test and Evaluation plan of all Capstone Design Projects
APR, week 4 Design Showcase (on-campus, open to the public)
APR, weeks 4-5 Oral presentations and Final Written Report to company sponsor
