While The University of Texas at Austin provides students with endless opportunities to join research labs and ongoing projects, there is currently no set standard way for students to search and apply to research positions. The current way students find research opportunities is largely via email communication with professors or by searching for opportunities on Eureka, etc. While Eureka is certainly helpful for searching for research opportunities, there is currently no standardized way to search and apply for research on campus. Our solution, UT Research Portal, will provide students an interface to search and apply for research opportunities that interest them. Students can directly apply to open opportunities through the online application interface. Faculty will also be able to login to the application and create new research opportunities that students will be able to apply to. We hope that this interface will provide an easy way for students to get involved with research and provide an easier method for professors to receive applications and recruit students to join their labs.
