UT ECE professors Seth Bank and Sriram Vishwanath received 2011 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) awards. 165 awards were made to 83 academic institutions this year to support the purchase of $37.8 million in research instrumentation.

Prof. Seth Bank received an award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) for equipment to monitor and control the growth of crystalline nanocomposites and nanostructures. Prof. Sriram Vishwanath received an award from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to implement a real-time, software-defined, radio testbed for interference alignment experiments.
