Texas ECE Ph.D. student Shupeng Ning received a 2024 Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition award from Synopsys for his work on “A Hardware-Efficient Silicon Electronic-Photonic Chip for Optical Structured Neural Networks”. The annual competition celebrates exceptional research projects designed by college students in North America using Synopsys Optical Solutions software.
Shupeng Ning is pursuing his Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin, having joined ECE in Fall 2021. He earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Microelectronics Science and Engineering from Nankai University. His current research interests include optical computing, integrated photonics, and optical biosensors. Shupeng is co-supervised by professors Ray Chen and David Z. Pan.
