Texas ECE students receive Halliburton Foundation’s Move Forward Program Merit Award

Twelve students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin’s Cockrell School of Engineering have been recognized with the Halliburton Foundation’s Move Forward Program Merit Award for the academic year 2014 – 2015. The award winners are Alex Wishlinski, Anish Bhat, Jacqueline Joseph, Kendal Clovis, Maximillian Marzec, Michael Booker, Ryan McClure, Silvia Arzate-Gomez, Smita Ghosh, Zain Rasheed, Kevin Chandra and Rachel Lewis.

The Halliburton Foundation extended its support to selected participants from the Move Forward Program through a merit based award of $1000 or $500. The competition for these awards was fierce and the winners were nominated out of 63 participants from the Move Forward Program.

ECE Compass Center’s Move Forward Program provides advising to academically struggling ECE students and helps them reflect on the challenges of the previous semester. It also helps student participants to realize their goals and develop strategies for the upcoming academic years.

The Move Forward Program Awards Committee members have applauded the award winners for their hard work and dedication.  Dr. Yale Patt, professor at Texas ECE and a supporter of the Move Forward Program recognized the efforts of the award winners and commended them on their diligence.
