Habitat: The Habit Tracking App

Our group has designed a habit tracking app that combines the standard functionality of habit tracking apps with the functionality of a game. The goal of this design is to motivate users to continue using the app instead of stopping once they get bored. The app’s game revolves around using currency earned from completing habits to customize an island with items and furniture. It also features a customizable avatar and the ability to make friends and visit their islands.

Water Drone

A water measurement system with a companion app to interface with the system. Designed to be drone-mountable. The system contains an ESP32 chip that is connected to and stores data from various water sensors. The data is then transferred over Bluetooth to an Android companion app. The Android app allows for the data to be visualized or transferred to a cloud storage platform.

HornsRide

HornsRide is a carpooling mobile app dedicated exclusively to students at the University of Texas at Austin aimed at delivering a safe, convenient, and affordable transportation service. The motivation behind this app is to help alleviate the burdens many UT students face in acquiring transportation around campus and Austin generally. Although alternatives like ridesharing apps, public buses, and scooters exist, they are either too expensive or too slow for regular use. The app features a rigorous authentication process that validates university affiliation through email verification.

Domestic Waste Tracker

The problem our team focused on with this project is reducing the amount of waste that households produce, as well as improving the sorting of compostable and recyclable waste. Our project consisted of creating a device with a display and camera to allow the user to get real time feedback on their waste, an algorithm for sorting waste, a flask API to receive and distribute data and classifications, and a mobile app to track their amount of waste and give the algorithm feedback on its classifications.

Three0: A Web3 Backend-as-a-Service

Web3 is a revolutionary new iteration of the internet, where users can take control of their information, using decentralized technologies. However, while developers want to innovate with Web3, it’s too difficult, expensive, and time-consuming for existing Web2 developers. Three0 aims to lower this barrier by bringing Web3 technologies to Web2 developers in a format they are familiar with. Three0 is an open-source Backend-as-a-Service platform that combines decentralized database, authentication, storage, hosting, and tokenization modules.
