TALENT Success Peer Mentors

TALENT Success Peer Mentors provide our TALENT Success students with relatable and insightful support to help them reach their goals.

Vision and Purpose

The vision of The ECE TALENT Success Program assists all Electrical and Computer Engineering students to acquire the necessary tools needed to foster academic growth that leads to success as a UT Austin scholar. The purpose of the TALENT Success Program in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department is to connect academically “at risk and in reach “students to valuable resources through the department, the Cockrell School of Engineering, and The University of Texas at Austin, including with mentors who have “been there.”

Mentor Function

Supports and encourages their mentee to learn about their major, explore resources and engage in activities that increase confidence in their abilities to be successful in ECE and beyond. Mentors can also help students manage academics, extracurricular activities, and show students how to network within the ECE community. Mentors are students who have “been there” too. The program provides a mentoring relationship to ease the transition of students entering college, the major, and future career placement. TALENT Success Program mentors allow their students to have a sounding board, provide practical feedback, and draw on their own experiences as it relates to selecting technical tracks, future internship opportunities, and clarifying educational goals.
