Texas Engineers and Scientists to Launch $15.6 Million Center for Materials Research

Researchers in the Cockrell School of Engineering and the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin have received a $15.6 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to discover and advance new types of materials for use in many applications including energy storage, medical devices and information processing.

This bill is the first step in a broader strategy to improve the acquisition of IT capabilities across all state agencies. This will allow the state to become more efficient, effective, transparent, accountable, less wasteful and continue to provide excellent services to the citizens of Texas. 

PhD Student Jiaojiao Ou Receives 2017 BACUS Scholarship

Jiaojiao Ou has received the 2017 BACUS Scholarship, one of the premier Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships offered by SPIE. The award is presented to students who demonstrate prospect for long-term contribution to the field of optics, photonics or a related field. The mission of the SPIE society is to advance emerging technologies through interdisciplinary information exchange, continuing education, publications, patent precedent, and career and professional growth.
